A custodial FATHER’s child support collection success story…

Happy Father’s Day! We know we’re a little late since Father’s Day was Sunday, June 20 but who doesn’t like to party and keep the celebration going when it comes to being with family!

Every week we get calls from fathers that tell us their story on how they have raised, or are raising, their child without support from the other parent. We hear from mothers, a lot of mothers who are in the same situation, but in the spirit of Father’s Day we would like to share with you one dad’s story in hopes that it inspires other parents to take action to collect the support that is owed to them.

Meet Ben C. from Oklahoma… a single dad trying to raise his children without much help from his ex…

After 2 years without receiving any child support from his ex-wife to help raise their daughter, Ben decided it was time to look at options for assistance with his child support issue… His ex had been in and out of trouble with the authorities, had no assets under her name, and there was no ability to garnish her wages since she was working for cash as a dancer in a club. Ben decided that hiring Support Collectors (a private child support enforcement agency) was a good fit for him. Shortly after hiring them, the Support Collector’s caseworker made contact with his ex right off the bat. She was cooperative, but after weeks of empty promises the caseworker decided to make contact with her probation officer. Shortly after, arrangements were made and the first payment was received. Ben’s ex was one of the many cases we have that must be monitored closely to keep payments coming in for our client. As the months went by, the number of calls made in this case decreased, but always remained necessary to keep her from “forgetting” to send the court ordered child support each month. Ben continues to receive his child support payment from his ex and this past Christmas for the first time in 3 years, the NCP actually got to see her kids. How did this happen? Well, after years of working with Ben’s ex-wife, she began to realize what she was missing… her kids. We are happy to say that Ben’s payments are still coming in and while his ex is not an active part of the children’s lives, she does continue to make every effort to keep her payments in timely manner.
